Just when Caroline thinks she can put the whole human trafficking ring behind her, she gets roped right back into it. She gets tapped by an agency wanting to use her skills and her position as a board member from her bequeathed shares of KE. While investigating in Japan, she quickly learns what exactly Beck was doing during their six-month break-up and finds that something may still be going on with a gorgeous director of KE. Nothing like the crumbling of a personal life to complicate a professional one.

Grappling with the fall-out from the human trafficking ring, Caroline is trying desperately hard to rescue the women that were stolen and sold. After a particularly difficult extraction, she is forced to take a break from the gloom and doom of the victim’s eyes. Just when she thinks she will be able to move past the depression that is looming over her head, a loved one is taken in an orchestrated scavenger hunt. Caroline is compelled to follow the clues, while being haunted by her past.
